Who is Unomena?
Unomena is a software studio founded in Cape Town. We design, build, and ship digital products — from concept through to production. We've spent years building platforms for clients across industries, and along the way we kept running into the same problem: deploying and hosting applications was harder than it needed to be.
So we built the thing we wished existed.
AppMecca is the distillation of everything we've learned about what developers actually need from a hosting platform. Not what the market says they should want. Not what looks good in a pitch deck. What actually works when you're three hours into a deployment on a Tuesday night and you just want the thing to go live.

We'd rather ship something that works beautifully than something that demos well. Every line of code in AppMecca exists because it solves a real problem for a real developer.
Simplicity is hard
Making something simple to use is the hardest engineering challenge there is. We spend the extra hours so you don't have to. One command to deploy isn't a shortcut — it's the result of thousands of decisions made right.
Honesty by default
Transparent pricing. Honest documentation. No dark patterns. No vendor lock-in. If we wouldn't want it done to us, we don't do it to you.
From Africa, for everyone
World-class software doesn't need a Silicon Valley address. We're proof that great products can come from anywhere — and we're building AppMecca to serve developers everywhere, regardless of geography.
Why we built AppMecca
As a studio, we've deployed hundreds of projects. Django apps, Node services, data pipelines, client dashboards — all shapes and sizes. And every single time, the deployment step was where momentum died.
We tried the simple platforms — loved the developer experience, hated the pricing and the limitations. We tried the big cloud providers — loved the power, hated that it took a week to configure a load balancer. We tried everything in between — each one got some things right but none of them felt like home.
AppMecca is the platform we wanted to deploy to. The one where you push your code and it just works. Where the database is there when you need it. Where HTTPS isn't something you think about. Where your AI coding agent can ship your app without you opening a terminal.
We built it for ourselves first. Then we realised every developer we know wanted the same thing.
Made in Cape Town
Cape Town is where Table Mountain meets the Atlantic. It's where the sun shines 300 days a year and the coffee is always good. It's also home to one of Africa's fastest-growing tech ecosystems — and it's where every line of AppMecca was written.
We're a small team. We sit together. We argue about the right way to handle health checks. We obsess over whether a CLI command feels right. We ship fast and we care deeply about the things we put into the world.
